There’s different packages out there to suit different working preferences, that all come with their own costs.
Day pass
The simplest option: buying a pass just for the day you want to use the coworking space. You aren’t locked into a contract, you pay as you go. With this option you’ll be using a hotdesk.
Hot desk membership
Many spaces will offer memberships as well as, or instead of, day passes. With a hot desk membership, you’re paying for monthly access to work in the space at any available desk. These memberships are either for unlimited weekday access or for a set number of days per week.
Dedicated desk membership
Here, you’re paying to have your very own desk in the workspace. For as long as you keep your membership, no-one else will work from there.
This option can be useful for people who have a more complex setup, for instance with multiple screens, that they don’t want to pack down and set up every day.
Private office
And then there’s the private office option, which is almost always the most expensive. With this membership, you’re paying for a dedicated office space. This option is usually best for small teams of around 4+

Day passes
The average cost of a day pass in London is about £20-50. If that sounds like a wide range—we hear you. We’ve explained why the price can vary so much in the section below.

Hot desk membership
You could expect to pay £150-300 per month for a hot desk membership in London.
Dedicated desk membership
For your own dedicated desk, the average cost is £300-600.
Private office
Here’s where things start to get a little more complicated. Because private offices vary so much—you could be a team of 30 in Bank seeking a corporate space or a small team in Holloway looking for something more low-key—it’s not really that helpful to point to an average cost across all offices in the city.
But to give you an idea: prices at the lower end of the scale could start at £250 per desk. A more premium offer might be more like £900 per desk. To work at The Shard in London Bridge, you would be looking at £1,000+ per desk, per month.
What influences the price of coworking in London?
So, why do coworking prices in London vary so much?
Location
In the same way that you’d pay way more for a flat in Soho than in Acton Town, the location of your coworking space hugely influences the price. Coworking spaces in central London are almost always more expensive than those in zones 2 or 3, or that are tucked away into quieter neighbourhoods.

Amenities
Simply put: the more amenities your coworking space offers, the higher the fee will be. Some common ones include free coffee (we offer unlimited hot drinks and snacks throughout the day, FYI) and bookable meeting rooms.
Some spaces offer more dedicated services like mail handling. It really depends on what you’re looking for.
Type of membership
Again, you pay depending on what you use. If a hot desk works perfectly for you and you only fancy coming in once every few weeks, you’ll just pay for a day pass as and when you need it. So, your overall cost is lower.
But if you want to work in a space that’s reserved for you, and you want to come in every day, you’ll pay more.
The space itself
Not all coworking spaces are created equal. You could probably find an impersonal, white-walled cubicle space that offers the bare minimum in terms of facilities, that would be kinder on the wallet.
But if the feel of the space is important to you (and according to all the coworkers we’ve met over the years, it is), then you may be looking for a spot that’s a little more inspiring. And this usually does cost a bit more.
