An evening of live Jazz music, dinner and drinks in our speakeasy-like Hall. Coming to the Kindred stage, J Appiah, a Hackney-born artist, blends pop-infused rock and soul on his debut EP “That’s the Thing About Time.” Drawing from his Ghanaian heritage, East London’s grime scene, and global touring experience with Gorillaz, Appiah crafts an eclectic sound centered on his guitar work.
His music features intimate lyrics, psychedelic production, and soulful melodies that showcase his diverse musical background. Following acclaimed singles like “WHYG” and “Breathe,” this EP marks an exciting new chapter in his career.
The EP’s four tracks, produced with Hugh Fothergill, Barnabus Poffley, and Fergall Mulloy, range from Beatle-esque waltzes to jazz-funk, reflecting on life’s changes and personal growth. The project was mixed in Japan by Alan Dobson, adding a unique dimension to Appiah’s distinctive sound.
The evening begins from 7pm, so whether you’re celebrating romance or enjoying a night out with friends, Jazz Lounge offers the perfect end of week escape. Take your seat, enjoy a complimentary house wine or beer, and soak up the sounds in our intimate space.
