International Women’s Day Zine Making
March 9 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm
Celebrate International Women’s Day and explore what gender equality means to us whilst taking part in a fun zine making session,
About the event
This Zine Making Workshop is a fun, approachable, and hands-on event in honour of the upcoming International Women’s Day. Attendees will make their own Zines, remixing and reinterpreting a range of materials using IWD as a source of inspiration.
International Women’s Day 2020 campaign theme is #EachforEqual, reminding us all that an equal world is an enabled world. Individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions. This workshop is a fantastic way to actively challenge stereotypes, fight bias, and celebrate women’s achievements.
Over tea and cake, we will discuss gender equality, women’s rights and collective individualism. Then, using what we’ve shared and learned in our discussion, we’ll create our individual Zines to take home. Zines are self-published booklets with a history rooted in DIY cultures and methods of production, created as an alternative to mainstream publishing. This workshop introduces the basics of zine-making, exploring what International Women’s Day means to us all – whilst producing something beautiful to take home.
