Free Yoga: Dynamic Flow
May 18 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
About this event
For Mental Health Awareness Week, Social member, Consuelo Cogrossi is generously sharing her gift of free yoga for the Kindred Community!
This is a powerful, flowing class designed to move energy through your body. It combines breath and movement into a dynamic sequence of poses. In this class you’ll tone and stretch your body and your mind and you’ll leave the class ignited with new vitality.
The practice of yoga helps us work with the nature of the mind, the nature of being a human, how emotions live in our bodies, how they affect our behaviour and our minds.
Some mental health benefits of a regular yoga practice include:
– It moves you out from the fight-or-flight mode to a more relaxed state (rest-and-digest)
– It helps getting to know yourself and cultivate a non-judgemental relationship with yourself
– It improves your relationships. When you’re more centered and peaceful with yourself, you’ll reflect those qualities into your relationships
– It enhances sleep quality because of its effects on melatonin and its impact on several common contributors to sleep problems, like depression symptoms, anxiety, chronic pain
Theme: the theme of the week is Kindness. The focus for each class will be the heart centre. Expect poses which open up your chest while strengthening the back body.
Suitable for: intermediate yoga practitioners.

More about Consuelo:
Consuelo has been practicing yoga for over a decade.
She still has vivid memories of her first class when her Swedish friend Louise literally dragged her to a Bikram yoga class in Brussels. From day one she was hooked and she has been rolling down her mat since.
Consuelo believes yoga is freedom, healing, creativity and self-expression. After becoming a mum in 2015 her practice transformed into something deeper than the physical asanas. In need of recovering from post-natal depression, she was craving for moments in which she could be herself. No responsibilities, no worries, just her mat, her body and her breath.
Consuelo’s mission is – through the teaching of yoga – to offer a safe space where people can embark on a journey of self-discovery and live a happier, healthier and more confident life.
